Adding The CYOA Segments
Hey folks, it's been a little bit - I'm happy to say I have something pretty substantial this time around: The completed core gameplay loop!
After the player finishes leveling up, they'll be presented with a randomized Choose your own adventure styled encounter, starting with a randomized Liminal area that gives players the choice of which mini adventure they'd like to go on, followed by the adventure, and ending with the player getting to choose a direction to the next fight. Here's a few of the possible configurations of these liminal points, since those are the most fleshed out, in action:
Right now I only have 3 varieties of the sentences, as well as followup phrases, I'm planning on adding many more to avoid repetition.
Some liminal points will give you a third option - in this case, jumping off the bridge, which will give a unique adventure (probably where you fall on top of and hurt an enemy, at the cost of resetting your progress to the end-game boss).
The art is still a work in progress, with the Hallway being the closest to completion, however I'm currently checking for feedback on it.
The ending liminal points aren't planned to have deviations, but that may change in the future as more content is added.
Once you choose a new fight, you're dumped right back into combat and the loop can begin again. With this, the core loop is finally done and I can work on creating content and art for the combat and CYOA sections. I'll be posting about new additions as they come along, as well as any new mechanics or nuances that pop up along the way.
